A lake at Bis Hazari Tal in October.
Bis Hazari Tal, meaning twenty thousand lakes, is a network of oxbow lakes and marshes in the buffer zone forest between Chitwan National Park and Bharatpur. It was listed as a Ramsar wetland in 2003. The lakes are a good place for storks, herons, kingfishers and wintering waterfowl, and mugger crocodiles, deer and occasionally rhinos come to the water. Go with a licensed guide, usually on a walking or jeep trip from Sauraha.
