Chitrakoot Falls spans nearly 300 metres in width during the monsoon, making it the widest waterfall in India and earning its nickname, the Niagara of India. The Indravati River plunges around 30 metres over a horseshoe shaped gorge, shifting from a slender white ribbon in summer to a thundering, silt browned curtain after the rains. Boat rides ferry visitors close to the base of the falls, while multiple viewpoints along the gorge edge offer sweeping views, especially striking at sunset. The falls remain a sacred site for local tribal communities as well as a major draw for visitors.
