Kudremukh National Park

A UNESCO listed tropical rainforest named for its horse faced peak, rich in endemic species and trekking trails.

Kudremukh National Park takes its name from the horse faced shape of its central peak and protects one of the largest stretches of tropical wet evergreen forest in the Western Ghats, roughly 95 kilometers from Chikmagalur town. The park is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its biodiversity, sheltering tigers, leopards, lion tailed macaques, and numerous endemic amphibians, with trekking to the summit requiring a permit from the forest department. Its ecological weight and distinct scenery justify the extra travel time beyond the district's closer attractions.
