Nataraja Bronze Craft Market

The streets surrounding the Nataraja temple in Chidambaram are lined with small artisan shops selling handcrafted bronze idols of Lord Nataraja, the cosmic dancer, in various sizes and postures. These bronzes are produced by local craftsmen continuing a tradition closely tied to the temple's identity as the global centre of Nataraja worship. Alongside bronze work, shops carry miniature temple replicas, devotional prints, khadi craft products, kolam powders, and traditional garments. The craft market is an authentic extension of the pilgrimage experience and one of the few places in Tamil Nadu where Nataraja bronzes can be purchased directly from the artisans who make them.
