A 2,600-hectare Shivalik forest sanctuary adjacent to Sukhna Lake with sambar deer, leopards and rich birdlife.

Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary covers 2,600 hectares of Shivalik forest directly behind Sukhna Lake, declared a protected sanctuary in 1998. The forest harbours sambar deer, spotted deer, wild boar, porcupine, jungle cat, pangolin, Hanuman langur and over 150 bird species including rare winter migrants. Forest trails at Nepli and Kansal offer excellent early morning trekking and birdwatching with permit from the Forest Department office in Sector 19. The sanctuary closes during the monsoon season for regeneration.
