Pinjore Gardens, also known as Yadavindra Gardens, are a 100-acre Mughal terraced garden 22 km from Chandigarh. Originally laid out by Nawab Fidai Khan Koka under Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in the 17th century and later restored by the Maharaja of Patiala, the gardens are modelled on Shalimar Bagh in Srinagar. Seven terraces of manicured lawns, ornamental fountains and Mughal pavilions descend the hillside. A heritage train, Japanese garden, mini zoo and open-air museum complete the complex, which hosts the popular annual Mango Festival in summer.
