Leisure Valley

An 8 km linear chain of 12 parks forming the green spine of Le Corbusier's city plan, Chandigarh's lung.

Leisure Valley is an 8 km unbroken chain of parks and gardens running from Sector 1 to Sector 53, conceived by Le Corbusier as the lungs and recreational spine of Chandigarh. The valley includes the Rose Garden, Terraced Garden, Bougainvillea Garden, Hibiscus Garden, Botanical Garden, Topiary Park, Japanese Garden, Shanti Kunj and several fitness trails among its 12 distinct parks. Walking or cycling the valley on a cool morning, with the Shivalik range visible to the north, gives the best sense of what the planned City Beautiful was meant to feel like.
