Parameshwar Tal

A Bundela era tank at the center of town, ringed by royal cenotaphs and a Lakshman temple.

Parameshwar Tal, also called Raja Shishupal Tank, is a constructed water tank at the heart of Chanderi built by the Bundela Rajput kings, with royal umbrella shaped cenotaphs standing on three of its sides. A temple dedicated to Lakshman, built by Bundela king Anirudha Singh in the eighteenth century, sits on its bank and adds further architectural detail to the setting. The tank's central location makes it an easy stop between the fort and the town's mosque and market areas.
