Khandargiri Jain Caves (Budhi Chanderi)

Rock cut Jain caves from the 9th and 10th centuries with carved Tirthankara figures, near the old town site.

Khandargiri's Jain caves sit within Budhi Chanderi, the older settlement site near present day Chanderi, and hold rock cut carvings of Jain Tirthankaras dating from the 9th and 10th centuries. A large rock cut Jain figure at the site adds further scale to a collection that reflects Chanderi's long standing Jain community and their continued presence in the town's religious life. The caves are usually visited alongside other Budhi Chanderi ruins rather than as a single standalone stop.
