Royal Bhutan Monastery was built by the King of Bhutan as a tribute to Buddha, standing beside Wat Thai Buddhagaya in traditional Bhutanese architectural style. Clay carvings lining the interior walls depict key episodes from the life of Gautama Buddha, and the temple houses a seven foot Buddha image carved with Buddhist scriptures. A rest house on the grounds accommodates visiting Bhutanese monks and offers guest rooms for pilgrims.
