Madan Mohan Temple, built in the ekaratna style by King Durjana Singh Deva, remains an active site of worship dedicated to Radha and Krishna, the tutelary deities of the Malla rulers. Its walls carry detailed carvings drawn from the Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Puranic texts. Local tradition holds that Durga Puja celebrations across Bishnupur's temples cannot begin until Madan Mohan fires its ceremonial cannon shot, a custom that still draws crowds to the temple grounds each year.
