Koldam Dam lies about eighteen kilometres from Bilaspur on the Sutlej River, near Barmana on the Chandigarh Manali highway. Built as an embankment dam for hydroelectric power, it holds back a long reservoir whose calm backwaters have become a quiet draw for travellers seeking a slower stop away from the busier lake points around Bilaspur.
