Kote Gate

Kote Gate is one of the historic gateways of Bikaner, part of the old city's fortification system built during the Rathore Rajput period. The red sandstone gate marks an entrance to the walled old city and is surrounded by the bustling lanes of traditional Bikaner with their painted havelis, sweet shops, and local markets. Shops around the gate sell camel leather goods, miniature paintings and Bandhani textiles, and it is an easy place to sample Bikaneri bhujia and traditional sweets. The gate's architecture reflects the Rajput style of fortification, and it serves as a landmark for exploring the old city's heritage on foot. The area around Kote Gate is particularly lively during festivals like Gangaur and the Bikaner Camel Festival.
