Swaminarayan Temple Bhuj

A marble-and-gold Swaminarayan temple rebuilt after the 2001 earthquake, originally established by Bhagwan Swaminarayan himself in 1823.

Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Bhuj holds a special place in the Swaminarayan Sampraday as one of the original temples personally established by Bhagwan Swaminarayan in 1823. Destroyed in the 2001 earthquake, the current temple was reconstructed and inaugurated in 2010 in traditional Vedic style with white marble, intricate stone carvings and gold-plated domes. The complex is close to Hamirsar Lake and is a major spiritual centre for the region. The temple's craftsmanship serves as a symbol of Bhuj's remarkable post-earthquake rebuilding.
