Prag Mahal

A soaring 19th-century Italian Gothic palace adjacent to Aina Mahal, with a grand Darbar Hall and bell tower.

Prag Mahal stands immediately adjacent to Aina Mahal in the same royal compound and is its dramatic architectural counterpart. Built in 1865 by Maharao Pragmalji II and designed by Colonel Henry Saint Wilkins in Italian Gothic style, its central clock tower soars above the Bhuj skyline. The Darbar Hall is one of the most imposing royal ceremonial spaces in western India, with Italian marble floors, carved sandstone columns and Corinthian capitals. Visitors can climb the bell tower for panoramic views of the old city and its surrounding landscape.
