Bhujia Fort

A hilltop fort on Bhujia Hill with panoramic city views, site of major battles between Kutch rulers and Mughal forces.

Bhujia Fort crowns Bhujia Hill on the northeastern edge of Bhuj and commands panoramic views of the city and surrounding desert landscape. Built between 1715 and 1718 by Jadeja chief Rao Godaji and completed by his son Deshalji I, the fort withstood six major battles against Mughal and Sindhi attackers over the 18th century before being taken by the British in 1819. A temple to the snake deity Bhujanaga occupies the summit. The approximately 250-step climb rewards visitors with some of the best views in Bhuj, particularly at sunset.
