Keoladeo Ghana National Park

UNESCO World Heritage bird sanctuary hosting 364 species including rare Siberian cranes.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the world's most important bird breeding and wintering grounds, spread across 29 sq km southeast of Bharatpur city. Originally created as a duck-hunting reserve for the Maharajas in the 18th century by flooding a natural depression, it now shelters 364 species of birds, 50 species of fish, and diverse reptiles and mammals. The wetlands draw staggering numbers of migratory waterbirds each winter from Siberia, Central Asia and China, including the critically rare Siberian crane. Visitors explore on foot, bicycle or cycle-rickshaw along well-maintained tracks.
