Kaman, known in tradition as Kamban or the forest of Kama, is an ancient town north of Bharatpur that forms part of the sacred Braj region associated with Lord Krishna's childhood. The main historical draw is a ruined structure of 84 pillars called Chaurasi Khamba, whose identity as temple or mosque remains unresolved by scholars, but whose carved columns are a striking remnant of medieval architecture. The town is a site of Vaishnava pilgrimage and is visited by large numbers of devotees annually during the Bhadhava month parikrama.
