Ganga Mandir in the heart of Bharatpur city is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful temples in Rajasthan. Begun by Maharaja Balwant Singh in the mid-19th century, its construction was funded through a voluntary one-month salary donation from the city's wealthy residents and took nearly 90 years to complete. The white marble temple enshrines an exquisite image of Goddess Ganga along with a four-foot statue of King Bhagiratha, the sage whose penance brought the Ganga to earth. The temple is particularly magnificent during Ganga Dussehra celebrations.
