Maan Mandir

A hilltop shrine on Maan Garh peak in Barsana, marking the spot where Radha withdrew in anger at Krishna''s delay.

Maan Mandir stands atop Maan Garh, one of four peaks of the Brahmagiri hills that rise over Barsana, reached by stone steps from the town below. The temple marks the site of Radha's maan, the legendary sulk she performed here after learning of Krishna's delay with the gopi Chandrawali. Worship here centers on Radha Rani alongside Krishna as Maan Bihariji, and the hilltop setting gives sweeping views over Barsana. The temple draws large crowds during Holi and Radhashtami.
