Mata Murti Temple

Ancient riverside temple dedicated to Mata Murti believed to be the divine mother of Lords Badrinath and Nara-Narayan 3 km from the main temple.

Mata Murti Temple stands on the right bank of the Alaknanda River, about 3 km from the Badrinath Temple. Dedicated to Mata Murti, the divine mother of Lord Badrinarayan and Nara-Narayan, the temple is one of the quieter sacred sites in the Badrinath complex. A major annual fair called Mata Murti ka Mela is held here during Shravan Dwadashi in August or September, drawing large gatherings of pilgrims. The lush green setting on the riverside, surrounded by forested hills and glacier views, makes this a peaceful counterpoint to the busier main temple precinct.
