Mana Village

India's first village on the Indo-Tibetan border 4 km from Badrinath dense with Mahabharata legend and the origin of the Saraswati River.

Mana Village sits at 3,200 metres on the Indo-Tibetan frontier, about 4 km from Badrinath, and was officially renamed India's First Village in 2023. Home to the Bhotiya community, it is the base for visiting the mythological sites of Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, and Bheem Pul. The Saraswati River appears here from underground in a thunderous rush before merging with the Alaknanda at Keshav Prayag. The village also marks the starting point of the Swargarohini Yatra, the legendary final journey of the Pandavas toward heaven.
