Charan Paduka

Sacred boulder 3 km uphill from the Badrinath Temple bearing rock impressions believed to be Lord Vishnu's footprints.

Charan Paduka is a revered rock on Narayan Parvat at 3,380 metres, reached by a 3 km trek from the Badrinath Temple. The boulder bears imprints believed to be the divine footprints of Lord Vishnu from when he descended from Vaikunta to earth. The climb passes high-altitude meadows with wildflowers in summer and offers wide views of the Rishi Ganga gorge and Neelkanth Peak. The site also serves as the base for the longer Neelkanth trek. Orchids grow on surrounding boulders along the trail in the warmer months.
