Badami Fort occupies the northern hill directly across from the cave temples, once serving as the seat of Chalukya rulers. Later fortified during Tipu Sultan's era, it holds large granaries, an underground chamber, watchtowers and a small museum housing the Lajja Gauri sculpture. The climb involves a fair number of steps but the payoff is a sweeping view of Badami town and Agastya Lake from the summit.
