Ram Janmabhoomi Temple

The newly built temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, housing the revered Ram Lalla idol and marking the culmination of decades of devotion.

Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya marks the site traditionally revered as the birthplace of Lord Rama, one of the most sacred locations in Hinduism. The new temple, inaugurated in January 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is built in the Nagara architectural style using pink sandstone from Rajasthan and sits on a raised platform of 70 acres. The presiding deity is Ram Lalla, the infant form of Lord Rama, installed in the sanctum sanctorum. The construction of the temple followed decades of legal and political dispute over the site, culminating in a Supreme Court verdict in 2019 that awarded the land for temple construction. The complex is designed to accommodate millions of pilgrims and includes multiple mandapams, gardens, and ancillary structures. The temple has transformed Ayodhya into one of the most visited pilgrimage destinations in India, drawing pilgrims from across the country and the global Hindu diaspora.
