Bibi Ka Maqbara

17th-century Mughal mausoleum known as the Mini Taj, built by Aurangzeb's son for his mother.

Bibi Ka Maqbara stands 3 km from central Aurangabad as the most ambitious Mughal monument in the Deccan. Built in 1679 by Prince Azam Shah in memory of his mother Rabia-ud-Daurani, Aurangzeb's chief wife, it was designed by Ata-ullah and Hanspat Rai in clear homage to the Taj Mahal. White marble clads the dado level and the central dome, while lime plaster covers the rest, giving the structure an elegant if slightly restrained appearance compared to its Agra inspiration. The surrounding Mughal garden with its long water channel and octagonal pool completes the composition.
