Bhadra Maruti Temple in Khuldabad, 24 km from Aurangabad, is one of three temples in India where the presiding image of Lord Hanuman is shown in Bhav Samadhi, the reclining or sleeping posture. Legend holds that King Bhadrasena's devotional singing of Lord Rama's praises moved Hanuman to descend and rest here in a state of divine bliss. The idol was discovered underground around 250 years ago and the temple subsequently built over the site. It draws large crowds of devotees particularly on Saturdays during the month of Shravan.
