Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib

One of Sikhism''s five Takhts, and the site where Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa in 1699.

Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib stands at the centre of Anandpur Sahib and ranks among the five Takhts, the highest seats of temporal authority in Sikhism. Its foundation was laid in 1689, and a decade later Guru Gobind Singh initiated the Panj Piyare here on Baisakhi, marking the birth of the Khalsa Panth. Relics linked to the Guru, including weapons once taken to England and later returned, are displayed in the inner sanctum. The gurudwara draws steady crowds of pilgrims throughout the year, with numbers swelling sharply during Hola Mohalla.
