Ropar Wetland was created in 1952 in the lower Shivalik range and spans roughly 1,365 hectares, supporting more than 150 species of birds alongside a wide range of fish, mammals, and other wildlife. Though it sits well outside Anandpur Sahib's immediate radius, its ecological significance and popularity among birdwatchers make it a worthwhile addition for travellers extending their trip beyond the town's religious sites. Early mornings tend to offer the best visibility for serious birdwatching, with the wetland considerably quieter than most of Punjab's more commercialised nature spots.
