Qila Holgarh Sahib

Fort where Guru Gobind Singh held Hola Mohalla, now the main venue for the modern festival.

Qila Holgarh Sahib holds a special place in Anandpur's calendar as the site where Guru Gobind Singh first held the mock battles and martial displays that became Hola Mohalla, celebrated a day after Holi each spring. The tradition continues today, with the fort and its surrounding grounds hosting horse riding, tent pegging, sword displays, and processions of Nihang warriors during the three day festival. Outside festival season, the fort offers a quieter sense of the same open grounds where centuries of martial tradition have played out.
