Qila Anandgarh Sahib

The main fort of Anandpur Sahib, from which the city takes its name, now integrated with a gurudwara.

Qila Anandgarh Sahib was the principal of the five forts built around Anandpur Sahib during Guru Gobind Singh's time, and it gave the city its name. It once served as the residence of the Guru's army and held real strategic weight during the conflicts of the late seventeenth century. Much of the original structure has since been rebuilt, though a small section of nineteenth century Nanakshahi brick remains on display within the current complex. The fort now functions as part of a gurudwara, blending its military history with active religious life.
