Kheem Singh Mohan Singh Rautela Sweets is one of the best known names for Bal Mithai in Almora and across Uttarakhand. The shop is an older, no-frills establishment rather than a modern showroom, and its sweets taste the way locals remember them. Bal Mithai is a dark fudge-like sweet coated in tiny sugar balls, while Singori comes wrapped in a leaf. Chocolate mithai is another favourite. Crowds are common at peak hours, and many visitors carry boxes home.
