Kasar Devi Temple stands on a ridge a few kilometres from Almora town, looking out over the valley and Himalayan line. The shrine is old, with local tradition dating the site far earlier than the present structure, and Vivekananda is recorded as meditating here in the 1890s. Crank's Ridge sits just outside the village, so most visitors walk both on the same outing. Shared taxis and a steep walk both work if you stay in Almora.
