Kolaba Fort

17th century sea fort built by Shivaji Maharaj, housing a Siddhivinayak temple within its walls.

Kolaba Fort, built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1652, served as a key naval station during the Maratha era and remains accessible from Alibaug beach at low tide. Robust stone walls and bastions enclose a Siddhivinayak temple added in 1759 by Raghoji Angre, along with smaller shrines to Ganesha and Bhavani. Two English cannons and a dargah also sit within the fort grounds, reflecting its layered history.
