Akkalkot Fort

Remnants of the old fortified town wall, with a single surviving bastion near the Swami Samarth temple.

Akkalkot Fort refers to what remains of the ramparts and trenches that once enclosed the town under its founding ruler Fatehsingh Bhosale in the early eighteenth century. Most of the fortification has been lost to time and encroachment, but one bastion still stands close to the Swami Samarth temple and marks the start of a short local heritage walk. The site draws more history enthusiasts than casual sightseers, offering a glimpse of Akkalkot's pre pilgrimage past as a princely capital.
