Pushkar Lake

One of the most sacred lakes in Hinduism, lined with 52 ghats and temples on all sides.

Pushkar Lake is considered one of the five sacred dhams in Hinduism and is believed to have appeared when Lord Brahma dropped a lotus flower here. The lake is surrounded by 52 ghats where pilgrims come to bathe, perform rituals, and offer prayers. The ghats are most atmospheric in the early morning and at dusk during the aarti. The lake and its surroundings become especially vibrant during the Pushkar Camel Fair held every November. Non-Hindus are welcome to walk the ghats but are generally asked to leave footwear behind and avoid photography during rituals.
