Yaosang
Yaosang is a vibrant spring festival celebrated in Manipur, often referred to as the Holi of Manipur. Observed over five days, usually in February-March, Yaosang marks joy, renewal, and community bonding.
The festival begins with the burning of a Yaosang hut, similar to Holika Dahan, followed by days filled with color play, music, dance, sports, and cultural performances.
A unique feature of Yaosang is Thabal Chongba, a traditional folk dance performed in groups, especially by the youth. Yaosang beautifully blends cultural traditions with festivity, making it one of Manipur’s most significant celebrations.
