About

Lohri is a vibrant winter festival celebrated mainly in Punjab and parts of North India, marking the end of the coldest days of the season.

Observed around mid-January, it celebrates the harvest of rabi crops, especially sugarcane and wheat. People gather around bonfires, offering sesame seeds, jaggery, peanuts, and popcorn while singing folk songs.

Traditional dances like bhangra and gidda add to the festive spirit. Lohri symbolizes warmth, prosperity, and gratitude for nature’s bounty.
