Karadaiyan Nombu

Karadaiyan Nombu is a traditional Hindu observance mainly followed by Tamil women, dedicated to Goddess Gowri (Parvati). It is observed on the day when the Tamil month of Masi ends and Panguni begins.

Married women pray for the long life and well-being of their husbands, while unmarried women observe the nombu seeking a good life partner. The ritual includes offering Karadai adai (a special sweet or savory rice dish) along with butter, and tying the sacred yellow thread (Manjal Kayiru) while chanting prayers. The festival symbolizes marital harmony, devotion, and faith.
