Delhi’s Festival of Light: Hundreds of Thousands of Diyas Illuminate Kartavya Path
As the festival of Diwali approaches, the heart of India’s capita, the iconic Kartavya Path in New Delhi was transformed into a radiant spectacle. Over two lakh (200,000+) earthen lamps (diyas) were planned to light up the stretch on October 18 and 19, 2025, in a grand public celebration orchestrated by the government.

- The detailed plan: Officials announced that the Kartavya Path stretch would be lit with two lakh diyas on each of the two evenings, creating a mesmerizing sea of light across the boulevard.
- Alongside the lamps: A high-tech laser and drone show themed around the epic Ramayana was arranged, blending tradition with modern spectacle.
- The event marks a milestone: It’s the first large-scale public Diwali celebration under the current city government, envisioned as a grand “Deepotsav” in the capital.
